Zulma Vega is a Colombian visual multidisciplinary artist who made Houston her home since 2012. Her work spans painting, sculpture and ceramic and is influenced by psychological and spiritual matters. Her style incorporates figurative language through an abstract expression using materials such as wood, clay, acrylic&nbsp;on different surfaces. Her art is a series of creative&nbsp;and experimental processes that describe a personal awareness that is common to anyone. Therefore, her pieces more than cathartic, invite us to ask ourselves about our ancestors, intimate inquiries, hidden feelings, thoughts and the dynamism of the psyche.&nbsp;

Zulma Vega is a Colombian artist who has made Houston her home since 2012. She focuses her art practice on 2D painting using techniques such as mixed media, Fumage and collage, moving from oil to acrylic depending on the message she wants to convey. 

&nbsp;Born in California, raised in Durango, Mexico, and currently based in Houston. Oscar has a professional background in Civil Engineering. Alongside his studies, he has also been experimenting with different types of expression, among those has been music specially with sounds from latin american folklore and afro latin rhythms with&nbsp;electronic music like Techno, downtempo and House. During the last nine years he has been invited to perform in different venues throughout Houston, like White Oak Music Hall, Axelrad and Wonky Power. His music performances have even brought him to other cities like Dallas, Mexico City, Torreon and Puerto Vallarta.

Since my first artwork at the age of 17 (1961) and for the past 60 years I used different media from clay, wood, and metal in sculpturing to painting on canvas and paper. Now it&#39;s time to explore the world of digital and design. So, I am going to make NFT from my artwork in different collections besides the original artworks and use my artwork to design usable and functional products.&nbsp; all of these are available on different platforms to buy.&nbsp;

Zachary J. Williams a visual artist specializing in traditional oil painting. In 2003, he received his B.A. in Art from San Francisco State University. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Sacramento, CA, to further pursue his studio practice; simultaneously curating exhibitions with a local art gallery while also managing an art studio. In 2009, he moved to Chicago and began an evolving series of works regarding children and gun violence. He has just recently relocated to Houston where he continues to expand the parameters of his art practice. Throughout his career, Zachary has had the opportunity to engage in various forms of artistic outreach, received several artists&#39; grants, and has exhibited his work in galleries and museums across the U.S.

Y. E. Torres (ms. YET) is a professional movement artist, instructor, model &amp; specialty entertainer: Fusion Bellydancer, Fire Performer &amp; Flow Artist. She holds dual BFAs in Drawing &amp; Painting and Fashion Design from the University of North Texas and multiple dance and yoga based certifications. Torres is an arts educator, movement instructor, and currently trains with present day masters of bellydance, tribal fusion, fire and prop manipulation forms. She was named one of Houston&#39;s Top &quot;100 Creatives&quot; by the Houston Press in 2011, inaugurated into the Houston Music and Arts Hall of Fame in 2016, and awarded 2nd place for the &ldquo;Best of Sideshow Arts&rdquo; at the 2019 ABurlQ! Burlesque &amp; Sideshow Spectacular. Torres is also a Flame Effects Operator, licensed by the state of Texas and was recently appointed as a Principal on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Special Effects (SPE-AAA) Committee.

Art has been apart of my life since the day I walked in my aunt&#39;s basement as an 8 yr old and witnessed my oldest cousin developing illustrations that I&#39;ve never seen before. I&#39;ve been an artist ever since. After many years at an art school studying financially struggling artists, I decided that I&#39;d try working in the banking field and art would be a hobby. It took me 10 years in sales (Banking/Distribution Sales) and an honest conversation with my department director at that time, for me to figure out that art could never just be a hobby. I&#39;d find time to draw during phone calls, meetings, lunch breaks; time and place never mattered. I decided it was time to pursue an art career. I learned about graphic design from one of my mentors and made the decision to go back to school to obtain a degree. That decision, while financially tough, proved to be the right move. Since I graduated from Villa Maria college I&#39;ve been blessed to work with and for some great companies. I have a passion to create visuals&nbsp;that will encourage, motivate and/or simply evoke a positive thought into everyone who encounters my work.&nbsp;

As an artist, I believe that one of the most important responsibilities I have is to observe and interpret the world around me with as much honesty as I am capable of.&nbsp;&nbsp; My art work is a documentation of the careful observation of my internal world, as it represents the emotional reaction to events and experiences of my external world. &nbsp;I am a self-taught artist and my work is dramatic, expressive and bold. &nbsp;The very nature of creation frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for innovative ideas and grace to influence my work.&nbsp;Born and raised in Texas, artist Wood Fancher Anthony is deeply inspired by the artistic richness of his mother&rsquo;s homeland in Zacatecas, Mexico. Much of his work is filled with brilliant color and energy.&nbsp; Growing up, Wood was surrounded by his mother&rsquo;s family and robust Mexican culture. His story and experiences allow him to create hauntingly beautiful works inspired by his experience but fired by his imagination.&nbsp;&nbsp; He believes his art must have the ability to tell a story or provide a place for the viewer to get lost within and create their own story. Wood Fancher Anthony, a self-taught artist, can execute anything from abstract to realism and enjoys using a variety of mediums, but works primarily in oil. 

My work is an expression of my spirit reflected through natural beauty, narrative, and symbols. It is about the spiritual connection found in natural beauty and the temporal quality of our existence as part of nature. It is done in mixed media, acrylic, collage, water media, and at times encaustic. Working in mixed media lends itself to creating a visceral world made with multiple layers, an approach that imbues the work with meaning through the telling of a story and the passing of time in the process. The layering process acts as a metaphor for the depth of the unconscious which is the well from which my imagery is extracted. I explore narratives through symbols and archetypes, in landscapes, seascapes, birds, flowers, mandalas, and the female figure. These are both personal and collective narratives of a memory or a dream, the past and present emotions. My work oftentimes includes abstracted color and abstracted natural forms but lives in the space between surrealism and stylized abstraction. As a former Art Therapist; the conversation between Art and healing is important to me; I believe in the healing process created in the experience of making art. Having a studio practice allows me to slow down and notice the beauty of nature and the beauty in myself and others. The art-making process allows me to step into that healing flow of the mind and space to respond to natural beauty (both outside and within). The result is the works; which can be called &#39;Soul-Scapes&#39;; entry windows into my soul, analogous to how icons were depicted as entry points into heaven.

Bethany Logan is a dancer, choreographer, teaching artist, adjudicator, 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and Certified Personal Trainer. She graduated from Ohio University (OU) with a BFA in Dance &amp; Choreography and a Minor in Psychology in May 2015. While at OU, Logan received the Fine Arts Award fully-funded grant to study Ohad Naharin&#39;s Gaga technique in Italy, as well as having her choreography selected for the American College Dance Association Gala Concert. After graduating, Logan spent a year in Mumbai, India, where she trained with Navdhara India Dance Theatre under the direction of Ashley Lobo, Yehuda Ma&rsquo;or, and Yuko Harada. Logan then moved to Brooklyn, NY where her past performances include stints as a company member, collaborator, and freelance dancer with Josh Pacheco Dance Theatre, Chris Ferris &amp; Dancers, BABEL Movement, Olivia Dwyer Dance Projects, Marika Brussell, mad.plum movement, Kelley Donovan &amp; Dancers, The Physical Plant, Sandra Kramerova &amp; Artists, The Median Movement, and Doug Neilson. As of September 2022, Logan is one of four to be selected as a Dance Source Houston Ambassador.&nbsp;Logan is also the founder and Artistic Director of Wild She Dances, a contemporary dance company. Wild She Dances&#39; mission is to provide opportunities for professional artists through collaboration, to be social justice advocates through dance, and to engage the community through partnerships, outreach, and education. Wild She Dances has performed in Austin, Texas, throughout New York City, including at Gibney Dance, Triskelion Arts, Green Space, and Hudson Guild Theater, and in Mumbai, India. Throughout 2020-21, the company produced multiple virtual and film works. In June 2019, Wild She Dances premiered their evening-length work, &ldquo;shaking morning,&rdquo; at Gibney Theater as a Gibney POP Artist and toured the work to Ohio for the Cleveland Dance Festival. In 2018, Logan was one of twelve choreographers to be selected and receive scholarship for Doug Varone&#39;s DEVICES Choreographic Mentorship. The company&rsquo;s past community initiatives include partnerships with the International Rescue Committee and The PILLARS NYC, with which the company donated a portion of ticket sales and taught ongoing classes in adult movement, yoga, and youth dance classes. Wild She Dances is a proud recipient of the Houston Arts Alliance&rsquo;s Let Creativity Happen Grant for 2022-23 season, and recently made its Houston debut in Dance Source Houston&#39;s Mind The Gap. &nbsp;Logan is the former Studio &amp; Company Director of The Brooklyn Dance Centers, where she trained students now attending The Julliard School, The Hartt School at University of Hartford, SUNY Purchase, University at Buffalo, as well as LaGuardia High School and Fort Hamilton High School&#39;s Joffrey Ballet Program. Additionally, Logan taught in public schools throughout New York City with Dancewave, where she was also Company Manager and a teaching artist. During the pandemic, Logan taught at multiple schools in Ohio, where she had the honor of serving as Associate Artistic Director for the Gary Geis Dance Company, her alma mater.&nbsp;Logan recently relocated from Brooklyn, NY to Houston, TX to fill the role of School Manager at Vitacca Vocational School for Dance. She currently dances with Karen Stokes Dance, and recently performed as a guest artist with Armitage Gone! Dance and Houston Contemporary Dance Company. She is thrilled to be welcomed into the artist community of HTX!

Born and raised in the Urban South, Brandon Kafarela is motivated and inspired by an array of vibrant cultures.&nbsp;Brandon is currently based in Houston and New Orleans.&nbsp;His personal art encompasses the cultures, languages, colors, relationships, and experiences that have shaped him throughout his life. Brandon uses art to bring all of these elements together to further establish his identity and commitment to his communities. Vonetta Berry is a visual artist whose chosen media is to paint images directly onto models&rsquo; skin, through body painting. &ldquo;My work attempts to explore the relationships and interdependence of people with one another.&nbsp; It is my intention to use the skin canvas to convey the inherent oneness of humankind and engage the viewer to become more connected to them and consequently to each other.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a participating artist for the World Bodypainting Festival, Austria 2012, and Demonstrating Artist for the Bayou City Arts Festival, Memorial Park, Houston 2010 and 2012.&nbsp; She is a semi-finalist for the Raw Artist Awards 2013.&nbsp; Her We Are One series was made possible by proceeds from the Houston Arts Alliance, Individual Artist Fellowship.&nbsp; Her work has been featured in the Huffington press, the Mitt E (Swedish Newspaper), Boycott Magazine, Great Day Houston, and FOX26 News.&nbsp; She has organized events and showcases for other body artists since 2006, including ComicPalooza in 2012 and 2013.Vonetta Berry received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in illustration and animation.&nbsp; Her process is a blend of many different backgrounds.&nbsp; She has studied fine painting and photography as well.&nbsp; &ldquo;I have worked to blend these skills to make my body painting images intriguing and captivating, while also melding trompe l&rsquo;oeil (fool the eye) techniques utilized by my favorite artists&mdash;Escher and Magritte,&rdquo; says the artist, Vonetta. Michelle Vo&nbsp;<ul>	<li>	My work has always been autobiographical and, as of late, focuses on interpersonal moments that others could relate to. I intend to depict my journey of self-discovery through various mediums and notable moments in my life. I emphasize these moments and pose&nbsp;hypothetical questions that challenge the viewer&rsquo;s stance on topics relating to mental and&nbsp;emotional wellbeing.&nbsp;	I focused on creating audiovisual animations and objects which intended to start conversations about the uncertainties in relationships. I combined audio and animation together to present thoughtful questions about social dynamics. My current work stems from friendship fallouts, which impacted my mental and emotional wellbeing and had an undesirable influence on my social interactions with others. I am left with &ldquo;what ifs&rdquo; and am constantly pondering on the longevity of relationships and how, or whether, to preserve these bonds. My work helps me&nbsp;unravel more about myself and how I can make my journey relatable to my viewers.&nbsp;	I hope my work has a positive impact on the viewer by expressing that these relatable experiences are normal and necessary for personal growth. In addition, my work intends to communicate that reaching out and accepting diverse perspectives about personal issues is not shameful and should be favored over indecision. Indecision prevents anything, whether beneficial or harmful, from happening and therefore should be avoided. Being able to minimize negative thoughts and recognize that these moments of self-growth are not as painful as they seem to be can motivate others to be open to these experiences. Some of my work also suggests taking a moment to stop and process scenes the viewer considers beautiful. In doing so, this evokes a sense of appreciation for the simple joys of life.&nbsp;	I want to develop my technique and create art that causes excitement in those who view it. I hope my viewer will choose to become emotionally engaged with my work and the world around them. I want to encourage my viewer to put effort into engaging their emotional wellbeing and into shifting their perspective.&nbsp;	</li></ul>Debbie Vu<ul>	<li>My work operates in the realm of experimentation. The materials I work with include metal, wood, fibers, ceramics, paper, plaster, cement, and plastics. I am always looking for new materials to experiment in and new techniques pertaining to whatever materials I am working in. I also feel as though experimentation is one of the things pushing my artistic practice forward.I have always had a sense of cultural dislocation. I am Vietnamese American. I am also considered hyphen American. I will never be fully recognized by Vietnamese people in Vietnam because I am considered westernized. At the same time I will never be fully accepted by Americans because I don&rsquo;t look or act like the typical American. I don&rsquo;t have a sense of belonging or home in either of these places. I feel as though I need to carve out a place for myself. I am exploring a new classification of American. I am exploring what it means and what it is to be considered hyphen American. I am exploring these themes through my art by using materials and techniques that are closely associated with Vietnamese culture. I want to explore the legacies of immigration, colonization, national pride, national heritage, assimilation, and transition. So for now I want to create art that interrogates, assesses, and re-defines my identity as a Vietnamese woman, but also as an American citizen. I want to explore what it means to be hyphen American. I want to interrogate and assess the nuances of what it means to be authentic.</li></ul>

Vo and Vu is a creative duo of female Asian American artist, consisting of Michelle Vo and Debbie Vu. 

Vivienne Dang is an artist and designer who likes to explore the world of symbolism and surrealism. She incorporates her fascination for human emotions into her concepts for each painting and has been exhibited both locally and internationally. Dang graduated&nbsp;Summa Cum Laude with&nbsp;a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Houston and has been designing professionally for more than 12 years.&nbsp;She produces digital work as well as traditional drawings and paintings. Vivienne Dang is an artist who likes to explore the world of symbolism and has been exhibited both locally and internationally. She is most known for her public art in the Houston area.

I paint because I can&#39;t imagine not painting. Painting is an essential part of living. I&rsquo;m exploring abstraction using acrylics in combination with other media to depict thoughts, emotion and/or scenes through color, surface texture, and forms. I sketch out or design most of my pieces on paper or computer before picking up a brush. However, the work becomes more and more intuitive as it comes to life. Often, the original sketch or design merely becomes the &quot;bones&quot; or structure from which a new work emerges. My work is vivid and tends to reflect the joy that I find in just being part of this world. I love working with the basics, primary color. I&#39;m working in mostly water and dry media: acrylic, watercolor, ink, color pencil and collage. My pieces are built, layer by layer, using brushwork, imprinting, lettering, knife work and pouring. I work on several pieces simultaneously. My pieces can be thought of as paintings upon paintings because I work each stage until I&#39;m satisfied with all aspects of it even though I know it&#39;s rarely the final view. My work is constantly evolving. Everything I encounter has the ability to inform my work. Although I am primarily focused on abstract expression, I continually challenge myself as an artist to just create!

Artist Statement: My studio practice extends across various techniques in printmaking, drawing, and collage. I begin each piece with the intention to create something differe nt than the last while thinking about developing all the parts of the composition to fit together as a whole. My artistic aim is to balance order and chaos within each composition using shapes, lines and layers that, hopefully, will draw the viewer&#39;s &quot;eye&quot; into an inward realm of reflection and mystery. I am a graduate of the School of the Art Institure with a BFA and MFA in Creative Film as Art and Design.
