Banke Awopetu
<meta charset="utf-8" />Banke Awopetu is an artist-activist. Armed with her grandmothers’ prayers, community love, degrees in African/African-American Studies and Drama from the University of Virginia, she has spent her entire life gathering and sharing Black stories through fiction, stand-up comedy, spoken word poetry, stage and film acting, and dance.
Banke is the author of two novels, Always Want More and New Black, a 2021 Idea Fund Grant recipient, and a performer with boundless depth.
She has been featured in Ebony and Women's Health magazines. Her work in education reform garnered her an invitation to the White House by Michelle Obama.
